Wow, I haven’t posted for

Wow, I haven’t posted for over a week. A lot of things have come down since, what with the Pledge of Allegiance snafu, family direction decisions, a new chalk easel, cool stuff happening at work and I cleaned up the floor in my room. What a week.

So it looks like if we’re really gonna do this full-time music ministry, we’ll have to make it our first priority, and schedule everything else around it. We’ll be practicing two mornings a week around the piano, focusing on just getting a feel for each other’s voices.

My new chalk easel came on Tuesday. I needed a new one ’cause the lights on the old one didn’t always turn on when you wanted them to, which is of course the purpose of lights. Another good reason is that this one fits in a flight-ready case, instead of two sardonically-named coffins; especially nice since I’m flying to Arizona with it next week.

I really like Joy Williams‘ music.

I was in the video store in Arbutus, MD the other day, and found one of my childhood favorites: Fleisher Studios’ Gulliver’s Travels. This was exciting enough, since the themes from the soundtrack are ingrained in my head and come out in my music every once in a while… “Come back again, oh, sailor man,” (sorry) …but even more interesting was the trivia I learned about it from the Internet Movie DataBase: Gulliver’s Travels was produced by the same outfit that created Popeye, Betty Boop, and Felix the Cat back in the thirties, and was only the second ever full-length animated movie (after Disney’s Snow White). It’s largely forgotten now, though, sadly.

And while we’re reminiscing…now that I look back on it, I think I was in love once.
