I love Growl. It’s so nice to know exactly what’s happening at all times, when a download finishes, when my photos have uploaded, when my web files have uploaded, and when someone signs on and off of AIM or Jabber.
However, I don’t like any of the existing notification styles out there (with the exception of these). I wanted something that looks like it belongs in OS X, not something out of a cartoon. So in that spirit, here is the NotifyOSX style for Growl:
Download (33K)
I’ve also done an OS 9 style, since OS 9 had a built-in global notification system, and I missed it’s look.
Download (9K)
Known issue: Both styles have a little trouble when the text contains a long, unbroken url. I’m not entirely sure how to fix this, but at the moment it merely overflows to the right, pushing the notification window to the left. It’s not a big problem, it just looks funny.

I’ll say thanks.
Thanks. These look nice.

This style seems quite similar to the other options … Also is there any way to change it’s position on the screen? I have another use for the top right hand corner.

Tim Jeffries: I think there will be a way to change positions in the next major update of Growl.

Ya, in 1.1 we’ll have positioning.
Daniel, mind if we include these in 1.1?

Sure … I’d like to try to shrink the filesize of NotifyOSX first, but that’d be very cool. Got a release date in mind?
